Planning for Success

Well, this time I am getting serious. Honest. Business owners really need some focus here. Over the last while I have noticed a trend. It has certainly become a point of contemplation. Think ahead. Many of the ‘E’ntrepreneurs I have been working with lately seem to be a little myopic. It really doesn’t matter if it’s a website or a marketing plan, people just don’t think ahead. “Plan for Success” is my motto.

Certainly I am the last one to complain about creating an attractive website, but looks over functionality and scalability is a trade best left alone. It will always be a trade off. A website needs to perform a purpose as well as be attractive.

As the saying goes ‘Content is King’. As such the ‘E’ntrepreneur should have the systems in place to keep the content fresh. From ecommerce stores to Latest News or even re-working site content… do it. This is not only a service to users/visitors/members it also will help obtain higher rankings on Search engines.

Now back to my rant. Planning, planning planning. Work to create and implement systems that a prepared for such growth. A great looking site that is only of use ONCE to a visitor does not do it’s real job. Obtaining and retaining new users/customers. Look at some of the more successful sites out there..eBay,Amazon,Google etc…. Many of them are most certainly not focused on graphic presentation. Their service offering is the most important thing. Often the end user wants nothing more than aplace to participate/shop that is as easy and hassle-free process as possible. They want pretty..they’ll rent a movie.

So if you’re creating a new web business/site or thinking about upgrading a current operation, heed my words and plan for success. It will not only make your users happy, it can ultimately save some money. And we all could use that, right?
