Well, well. Its been quite some time since I went on a new rant, (spelled= whining). Truly a time of growth, learning and experience. To put it politely. At least to this point I can attest that business is a demanding mistress. Requires attention and plenty of it. So where is this taking us? Well, a topic I rarely broach with clients because the specter of the mere mention of its potential for havoc. Yes my friends, thats right. Failure. The money sucking, ego bruising womb of if only.
Those of us in the web development industry that have managed, somehow o last the test of time, (8 years and counting,KnockKnock) have a deeper understanding of the statistics. Averaging out the generally accepted statistics, 70% of all new web businesses shall be gone within 3 years and 80% in 5 years.
What does that mean to me?
It means I have lost a lot of business friends over the ears. Seen lives go sour. Even the occasional marriage (old axiom; Never do business with friends nor family). The internet is not a NEW frontier. Yes, it WAS. It is now the domain of the normal business practices and rules. If, as an entrepreneur, you have ever had to compete, find an adge, against larger well funded competition in a brick and mortar business, well great. Youre going to need it.
Business is business. Commerce as we know it in its fundamental state has been around as long as we have. Dont lok for the pot of gold. The chip your own small niche in te hillside and be happy. Then.. chip away some more. A little at a time.
I made it past the web life expectancy , mean anyone can.
..back to work.
