Selling online use to be about; spending thousands just to get the cart up then a few hundred for the Merchant account. That however is not the case anymore thanks to Paypal and carts like osCommerce. With the helping hands of these guys, you can have a nice looking, functional site up with a few hundred of dollars.(or less if you have the time to learn it yourself) This also includes the full ability to accept payments from Credit Cards, manage customers, create invoices and more. The most cost effective ecommerce solution on the market today is Oscommerce.com . How much does this functional and expandable cart cost? Nothing, zero, zilch. Thanks to our great Open Source Code. An all in one solution osCommerce can have you setting up products to sell, have a visitor sign up and pay via the OSC payment section, create an invoice for that client as well as deliver the product(if it can be transferred via email) or create a packing slip to be mailed out.
These are just some of the features located in oscommerce. Another great feature about oscommerce is that you can integrate it to fit right into your site design You can customize any part of oscommerce including the buttons for the shopping cart. One of the larger headaches with ecom in the past was setting up the payment processor. It used to cost around $400-$500 to get a merchant account. This my friends is where we bow to Paypal and OSC. OSC has a module built right in it to hook up to your paypal account. Now adays, Paypal.com processing has grown for ecom, you can now except Credit Cards, E-Cheques, or have the buyer use their paypal account. They have also been kind enough to come up with the great Virtual Terminal, which allows you to process CC orders over the phone etc. Paypal.com is free to sign up, has over 78 Million accounts, only charges a small % of each sale/payment, can be funded by your credit card or bank account if you want to purchase something online and any sales you get you can take straight down into your bank account. Now don't get me wrong, there are other half decent processors out there like 2Checkout.com, but hands down, every time I get asked by a customer, I send them right to paypal. So in short, though there are many carts out there, some for free, some paid, and many other merchants, like 2Checkout, Authorize.net and the like; the best combination that I have found to work to date is osCommerce and Paypal. So happy together!! Tanya Crawford |
